" There are many iatrogenic drugs they can give before a baby is even born.. For instance, a mother and baby can be completely healthy but, there is a drug called Syntocinon that makes the uterus contract more heavily, and can cause placental abruption and lead to the blood and oxygen supply being cut off to the baby, causing health issues to the baby and mother.
This leads to the point, that When you're younger your parents tell you to eat your green veggies and drink your milk, then when you get older you realize that you're only as healthy as doctors want you to be. You don't have a choice. Doctors can and do, affect peoples health before they have even made an entrance in to the world.
"It's hard to believe that they are still doing things like involuntary Primal Scream Therapy and involuntary ECT to people who were the prettiest and healthiest guys and girls in your high school year group. People think Primal Scream Therapy has been outlawed, but it has not. They just bring it out the same concept, under a slightly different name. And why they would want to be doing this to the healthy kids in your high school year group, instead of to any body, you may ask, that may be a question, but that is probably obvious, given the nature of the way the medical system works. They like to skim the cream off the top"
"The medical system is an industry that really really really gets off on other people's pain and misery."
There is a thing called "knowledge asymmetry" between doctors and patients which is a driver of medicalisation. It produces a moral hazard in which doctors make decisions yet the burden of risk is placed on the patient.
" Many of the advancements in people's health over the last 200 years , does not come from modern medicine, it comes from better public facilities, better water supply, better sewerage system, better infrastructure, avoiding war, better political and industrial achievements and improved awareness about sanitization and nutrition".
-last 2 quotes are appropriated from the 2021 book called Hippocrasy by Rochelle buchbinder and Ian Harris
"It seems as though modern medicine is winning its plight for treating the dollar not the patient , and that has overturned all the various contributions of good work that people have been doing for the planet and for themselves . It really is an unfortunate industry.
As one iatrogenically disabled lady said...
"The two things I don't like about the treatment of Modern Medicine, is that it changes Two Things. FATE and NATURE. Those two distinct factors, are necessary for formulating the final outcome of a situation . When you slice and dice with those two factors you are creating a situation which is very much like like chaos. "
The Hare and The Hound story:
"The idea and theory that there are illness and impediments that need fixing and will only be fixed with medicalisation.... is a convenient theory, because it's what every simplistic view of a problem seeks before all else. An implication and a culprit. An invisible Hare for the Hounds to chase in their costly research labs, universities, hospitals and drug factories. The fact is the hare can never be caught, just like you cannot prove what the persons health was like prior to treatment or what the outcome would be if the person had been left alone. So, The big industries keep chasing the Poor illusive Hare. This is the perfect guarantee that their race will never finish, their demands for funding will never cease , and their ability to generate profits for the drug and chemical corporations will continue to grow.
